WASHINGTON — May 25, 2026 — In a recent episode of the Powering America Podcast, Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, discussed the current state of energy policy in the United States. Cortes examined the environmental impact of wind power and made a case for natural gas as a more viable energy source. The discussion highlighted the economic and aesthetic issues surrounding wind energy and the advantages of utilizing domestic natural gas resources.
Cortes criticized wind power, referring to it as a "multi-billion dollar scam" that fails to deliver reliable energy. He stated, "Perhaps one of the worst offenses is the wind scam, and so that motivated me to make that documentary." He emphasized that the construction and maintenance costs of wind turbines do not yield sufficient energy output, making them economically unviable. Cortes also pointed out the aesthetic degradation caused by wind farms, which disrupt natural landscapes and contribute to environmental harm.
In contrast, Cortes advocated for natural gas as a clean and abundant energy source. He noted, "In the meantime, for the near term to medium term, we have literally centuries of supply of natural gas." He highlighted the efficiency of natural gas in energy production and its potential to power significant industrial projects, such as semiconductor manufacturing facilities, without the drawbacks associated with wind energy.
The League of American Workers is an organization dedicated to advocating for American workers' interests and promoting policies that support economic growth and energy independence.
